We did a dozen different things here and I feel like so much left to do. Desert camping and hiking was our focus (we had limited time) and were rewarded with a great, very scenic location. My wife had a blast bird watching. We saw dolphins and sea lions from shore. Try out biking and kayaking next time, I hope!
Only tired the half-day should have stayed for more. Rogue River has something for everyone, we started with the Class I and Class II easy stuff, then a section of Class III+. Thrilling ride, gorgeous Oregon scenery, and time to swim and just sit out and eat after. I really love Oregon!
Mount Evans is right outside Denver, so access is easy. 5-star difficulty is not a joke – this is a ride that will challenge your body and your spirit. I've never made it all the way, but I've been up some and the views are AMAZING! Lots of mountain goats and rams also, so bring a camera for wildlife pictures. Try it, you won't regret it!
Watching the bison roam free is something really special and I don't know where else you'd do it. I've seen bears and elk and my wife goes crazy for the bird watching. The animals can come so close, sometimes I have to remind myself to give them space. I've got hundreds of photos and memories, Yellowstone is great!
Hopped over from Spain to enjoy 7 days of trekking through the Atlas Mountains and I wish we had stayed extra days. From the mountains to the desert sands, to the sea – amazing variety of sights and scenes, just like the movies except we were there! So many wonderful memories!
So many places below Flaming Gorge Dam, you can spend weeks here and never get enough. Rainbow and brown trout heaven! The insect hatches can be pretty intense in season, so time your visits carefully. Beautiful steep-walled canyons make every excursion a scenic pleasure.
14 nights on a paddle wheel, starting from Portland. What a wonderful way to see the West. Felt authentic, like traveling in the footsteps of Lewis & Clark, but with way better food. Weather was a great mix of brisk evenings with cool but pleasant days, most of them clear and sunny. Gorgeous change of pace!
“Ghost Ranch” and “Chimney Rock” are evocative names and even better hikes. Desert colors and quiet are very spiritual, especially if you're making your hikes during sunrise or sunset. Really breathtaking scenery. Caught part of a paleontology tour and wish we had time to explore more, sounded fascinating!
Amazing scenery, we took the cable car up and hiked around also. Got pictures of monkeys, along with beautiful pictures of clouds and jungle. Looks like a fairy tale movie, this place is really like nowhere else I've ever been – find a way to make it happen!
Both times I've visited, I came with a plan and didn't bother sticking to it – too many good choices. Fishing reports from Lake Minnewanka were spotty, so I went biking and hiking instead. Next time, went to Minnewanka again for diving, but weather was iffy so we went sightseeing, watching for bears and birds. Always great, so many good choices...!
