Helicopter to the Largest Ancient Pyramid in the World

El Mirador
Among the great cities of the ancient Maya, El Mirador is known only to archaeologists and National Geographic reporters, because it takes three days walking with mules through hot, steamy jungles to reach the ancient site (dated pre- 200 AD). Located in the Maya Biosphere Reserve of the Peten lowlands of Guatemala, the El Mirador basin contains the earliest and largest cities in the Maya world and the highest concentration of ancient sites in the region. The monumental architecture is the largest in the western hemisphere, larger at the base (though not taller) than the Egyptian pyramids.

Visit Tikal with our expert Guatemalan guides, Alfonso and Diana Muralles, then fly by private helicopter shuttle from Flores to meet on-site archaeologist, Dr. Richard Hansen, for a private tour of this active archaeological dig where exciting new finds call into question the chronology of the development of Mayan societies of the pre-classic period, c. 2000 BC to AD 240.

Explore the Highest Major City in the Western Hemisphere

Cusco and Machu Picchu in Peru
Crowned by the towering Andes and tucked between the Amazon and the Pacific, Peru offers a captivating mix of adventure, nature, and history.

Embedded in every active travelers Top Ten List is the great city of the clouds, Machu Picchu.

Our route takes us there from bustling Lima, to the cobblestone streets of Cusco, the highest major city in the western hemisphere, from ruin to ruin across the Sacred Valley, and by train and breathtaking footpath over the Inca Trail. The scenery is non-stop and the hospitality is genuine. Active multisport days are rewarded by the finest regional cuisine and lodgings.

Discover the Countryside Surrounding the Deepest Lake in Europe

Lago di Como
At approximately 1,350 feet deep, Como is the deepest lake in Europe. The bottom of the lake is actually more than 650 feet below sea-level. Como's polished mirror surface reflects the soaring alpine peaks behind the lake, while palatial villas and waterfront towns that resemble opera sets shimmer in the foreground.

Our trips next year through the Italian Lake District begin on the shore of Lake Lugano, beautifully positioned in the pre-Alps between Switzerland and Italy. Move next to explore wildflower-splashed meadows, forests, vineyards and olive groves around Lake Como. Linger in charming lakeside towns, visiting villas and discovering delightful waterside restaurants run by vibrant local people.

Grand Canyon
Endless in scenic wonder, rich in Native American history and loaded with fun and adventure, our trips down the Grand Canyon are an exciting adventure for experienced rafters, as well as families and those who havent spent as much time on the river. Exploring the biggest canyon in the world by river is an experience unlike any other.

Discover hidden waterfalls and paradisiacal side canyons - areas of Grand Canyon National Park that are accessible only by river. Listen to the sound of the mighty Colorado River as you lie down under a blanket of innumerable stars. Watch the morning sun cast its warm glow through towering canyon walls as you prepare to set off on another day of adventure.
